The reservation is changed! Yes, of course it is after many years I don't visit. But, this is *to me, at least* is a major change, as the reservation now has paving blocks as pedestrian walk. It is not so difficult to find ways now as there is a pattern to every main attraction inside the reservation, but well, I don't know about the monkeys and all that usually surrounding.

Water is still in the afternoon.

The deer inside the reservation. There are also some monkeys, birds, squirrels and of course... mosquito.

A site of old temple (ruins only) is inside the reservation.

Caves. There are some interesting caves here. Two kind of caves. One is a man-made, like this one below that was made by the Japanese in their invasion in year 1940-something. They made this caves *indonesian labor for sure* for a hiding place.

But there are also natural caves with natural *and beautiful* stalactites and stalagmites that really interesting to walk in. People may have different imagination to interpret the different shape of them. Some said it looks like a dog, some other said it looks like a camel. ouch... fine lah!

Petrosains

Petrosains. It is surely interesting particularly for the children. When we were there lots of children, student groups were there and happily doing a lot of activities with the machines/equipments around. After we pay admission fee, we are taking a dark ride into another space inside the science center while Jeremi is happily exploring.

This is an interactive art. A screen where the images controlled by the shadow of people who stand in front of the screen. There also another three screen which offer kind of same fun art experience.

There are experience with heat, with earthquake, with speed, with colors, with dinosaur, with stones and petrol and many more.

Jeremi is installing the way so a little ball can move smoothly inside the pipes down. He really lost time here in Petrosains!

600 cc

We do interested in the picture of snowy ice-cream dessert that they put in the front of their resto. Slurrph. Yes, we want it. But, it is not the only dish they serve, so we can have a full meal here. This restaurant named 600cc with a logo of cow, in the ground floor of Sunway Carnival Mall in Penang.

They also serve rice-cuisine. Nasi Lemak with vegetables, fried chicken, egg and soup. Very good.

And noodle. Noodle soup with half of boiled egg and shredded chicken. The soup taste savory and bit spicy.

Great meal. Sure when we come back we'll find you!

Kek Lok Si

Kek Lok Si is a temple not so far from Penang Hill. We took a taxi from Penang Hill to this place. Apparently there is not only one temple in the complex. There are prayer halls, with different statues inside and a pagoda where we could reach up by stairs.

Temples never fail to amaze me surely :) Two prayer halls looked like an ordinary chinese temple, with big halls, curvical ornamental roof, statues and smoke of incenses. One prayer hall filled with images and statues of Buddha, water fountain and shops.
One Pagoda certainly looks amazing even from far. Buddha images inside and spiral stairs that will bring people to different level of the pagoda. From up here we can see another view of the town and the sea. Love it.

Penang Hill

We hit Penang at 10am in the morning. Late? Indeed. I hate the bus. But what can I do? From Sungei Nibong bus station we took the taxi to Penang Hill. Queue at the train station is already packed. Sigh. Penang Hill is still a main attraction even for the local people.

After 15 minutes queue *and very difficult as there is no good order, everyone just press themself into the entrance gate. :(* we in to the inclined train that bring us up to the hill on 10 minutes rides.

View of Penang from the hill is nice indeed. The sea and the town blends in a good harmony. While there are lots of people on the hill, I actually couldn't find anything else interesting other than that view.

We find some food vendors that sell kuey teoy and some other dishes Penang' specialties. I order this top Ais Kachang while Jeremi order 2 *two!* fried char kuey teoy. The ice is a mix of fruits, with red bean, shredded ice and floated ice cream on top. Yummy.

As there are not much to see *there is actually a Hindi temple with nice decoration* we decided to go down the hill after the meal. We get the most-front seat and the ride down is indeed bit scarry as if you are in a roller-coaster rolling down the steep track.

Penang Hill again next time? Only if the train queue can be maintain to be better.

Jurong Bird Park

We start our day from Mustafa Center to buy some snacks and then head to Jurong Bird Park through MRT station Boon Lay and Bus #194 to the park. At 10am in the friday morning, the park is already pack with people (including some school groups).

We started our journey by taking the panorail that bring us from the first station to the second station. It is not far, but giving a good view of the birds from above. I think the hornbill and toucans, pelican, penguins and lory are some of the best attractions here. Jeremi keep the camera clicking on every birds he could spot. There are hundreds birds around us surely :P

I really interested to see the color of this mandarin duck are there are feather that looks like a boat display on its back.

Flamingo surely one of the best attraction, their color makes good pictures better. Hm.'

Pelican. Another nice flock to observe. The birds, the water and all atmosphere makes us comfort and happy indeed. There is an artificial waterfall where some birds around, owls, and many other things to see.

Lory loft is where people could feed the birds using a cup. The birds will come and feed from our hands. The lory aviary is a good walk around an area using a rocking bridge *heheh, its hang on rope* that giving good air of being inside a jungle. :P

Ibis surely another attractive color. It is seated near to the gull shore *ever hear the voice of a gull?* with an artificial shore its beach and voice. We walk around the park and when sit in some spot to have snacks where the birds is around us, very nice, and not feeling that the time is gone fast and the evening is coming. We left the park at 4pm. Tired feet but relax mind.

Braga Permai - 3

Cakes and ice-cream is not the only specialty of this restaurant. Braga Permai also offers some Indonesian, Western and Italian menu. From Indonesian menu - Nasi Goreng or Fried Rice. Does taste well, and come in a big portion enough for two people to eat. Thumbs up.

Noodle with vegetables. Also come in big portion that could serve 2 to 3 people. I think they have a generous portion compared with its prices. Thumbs up.

Medium Chicken Steak. Thumbs up. All dishes that we order come in well taste made our lunch experience in this restaurant really enjoyable.

I was grow up in the town of Bandung. The famous oldies resto called Braga Permai was only like 2 km from my home. But, I never sit in this resto before, just heard about it from people or read it in food review. This time I decided to try it myself. Maybe this resto will not be as good as before, but I take the risk :P I asked the girl behind the counter of what their best cake. She recommend me this. A volcano. Aah. Chocolate cake with melted chocolate inside it? Sure. I know what that is. Unlike other restaurant that offer this kind of cake with ice cream, they serve it plain. Oh, not so plain, with bit of whipped cream on top :) Unlike its plain look, the taste is really really good, not sweet from sugar nor bitter from dark chocolate.

Ice cream Cassata. Again with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. Raisins and dried fruit are in the middle of it. Remind me of Italian ice-cream? Yes, surely.

The lady-waiter told me that this ice-cream is their new addition. Something called: Heavenly Bogerijen... I say yes quickly. My eyes send signal to my sense less than a second when I see the look of it. Wow. Layered in three different taste of ice-cream, vanilla, strawberry and chocolate and two different fruit slices, banana and strawberry. Showered with peanuts and corn flakes. Bottomed with chocolate sauce. Its not only yum. Not only yummy. It's heaven.

They called this chocolate kroket. Maybe of its shape? It is a chocolate layered with marzipan. Gives sweet and very sweet sensation to my tongue.

After we finish up all what we order we asked for a bill. The lady-waiter asked me sofly: We will give you a compliments. Would you like to have another Heavenly ice-cream? What? Another? Sure! Quick! Heheh. The second Heavenly ice-cream is as good as the first one. Not less. Still Wow.

Tidung Island

I love the blue of Tidung island. The ocean comes in few different blue colors. Light blue, greeny-blue, dark blue, whitey-blue...

The water is clear so it is very easy to see what below the waters. Snorkeling is something to do in this island. When I come down from the ship, I actually expect some people stand and offer snorkeling package. Then I learned that there is so few tourist information could be found in this island. Just about in the harbor, there is a place that rent bycicle and snorkeling equipments for a cheap price. Yet, they don't come in a complete information. Most what they do is answering our questions and assessing the value of our wallet from our looks. :( Tidung island is kind of famous now for a tourist spot, I don't understand why they still keep that unfriendly behavior. I expect a good information of what to explore in the island, where to go, what time the ship will be ready and so on.

There are two Tidungs. Big Tidung and little Tidung. The two island connected by a wooden bridge. The bridge is somewhat need restoration. In much part of it, the wood is doty and in some part the woods are missing. It is impossible to relaxed walk seeing the surrounding through this bridge. While walk, we have to carefully see our path.

Tidung island seen from the little Tidung. I walk from an end in little Tidung to another end in Tidung. The whole journey took around 30 minutes. I ride a bycicle through same path and the journey took around 20 minutes. Bycicle ride *for me* is not so comfortable because the path is so small and in many spot there are bumps. On the way we have to share that alley with vegetable sellers, with motorcycle and with children that run and play. Ouch. Walk will be a better option, but, still when I walked people starred at me as I walk through the housing complex and some asked me question: "Where are you going?" Ahh.

The famous wooden bridge of Tidung island. I saw a lot of photos in flikr about this bridge. This bridge is a landmark to this island. I will like it more if they could be more attentive to it. The ocean is fabulous. The sunshine was crazy here but the sea really calm.

Some beach part of Tidung. I can see lots sea-shells along the coast. I also saw garbage. I think they have to start caring the garbage things as the coast is not so enjoyable because of that. I can see plastics, shoes and slippers and *guess what* bags. I don't know if those shoes and bags are really dumped or it is something from a sinking ship? :P

Well, I believe have a day in Tidung island could be more better if these things improved. Particularly, food! Only instant noodle available on their food stalls. Sigh.

Kepulauan Seribu

On the way to the Tidung island, I can see lots of islands. No wonder they called Thousand Islands or Kepulauan Seribu. One of the island that I interested to see is the Onrust. Unfortunately there is no boat service to this island, maybe because there is no people in this open-museum island that once was a prison when Dutch still colonized Jakarta. 2.5 hours is passed quickly for me.

Muara Angke

Muara Angke Harbor in Jakarta well-known for two things. First, this is a place where fisherman sells their catch in a more cheaper price from the market. Second, from this harbor we can took the ship that will bring us to the Thousand Islands. I took a ship at 7:30 in the morning from this harbor to the Tidung island. The ship is a two open decks where people just sit on the wooden decks. Journey took 2.5 hours with a lot of winds and water that sprayed up when the ship hit the waves. I enjoy the blue waters and the winds. Unfortunately, people smoked on that ship. Huh.

Sand's Marina Bay

Sand's in Marina Bay is a complex of shopping mall, casino, hotel and a rooftop garden *to enter the garden people have to pay $20*, an Art museum, a skating rink, a canal-like with small boat *which really similar to the Venetian Macau, only in Macau people will take a gondola with a singing gondolier in clear water, in Sand's Singapore people with take a boat in dirty water. I don't know why they don't keep the water clear in Sand's*, and a helix bridge.

Helix Bridge

A pedestrian bridge called the Helix Bridge *it does form a Helix* connect the Sands' complex in Marina Bay to the youth olympic complex. From down the bridge, it does looks scientifically cool :P. From up the bridge I can see the olympic stadion, the bay where Merlion once stood, and the impressive Art Museum that looks like petal of blossoming flower. Certainly nice spot for photograph.

A historical building that now functioned as a venue for events. Once it was a catholic church, no wonder the architecture really similar with a church. The main hall once was the chapel. Restored and reserve is the key to this beautiful building.

I love the towers, the tiled floor, the pillars, the dome-ceilings, the windows and all of it! The inner part of the building is a garden-yard and a paved-yard. I saw lots of tables and chairs put on the paved-yard. Looks perfect for a non-casual party.

Mustafa Centre in Little India open 24-hours. As a huge merchandising place, from clothing to dry food, from electronics to fruits, it surely one stop shopping for everybody. You can't asked for a convenience boutique but it provides you with almost everything you may need. Clothing is cheap though it is not the newest style. Gadget available though it is not the most classy one. There is a section for kid's toys, for sport shoes, for casual, for chocolate, for souvenirs..ah, named it! Would easily lost in it!

Chinatown has a lot of interest. Pagoda street is surely one of the most sparking one at night. Called a Night Bazaar *but I don't really get into the righteous of it, since when I arrived around 8 some stalls already closed and others are closing* it sells inexpensive merchandise from souvenirs to watches to clothing and Chinese's things. I love to see the second storey of the buildings. Colorful and pretty in the night with the lanterns decorating it.

There are also food stalls. Tables put on the street and people sit to eat. They offer mostly Chinese's barbeque and beers. I love the lanterns along the their ways.

When I just arrived the souvenirs sell 7 for $10, but in a while they change the announcement to 4 for $10. Why is that? Many people strolling around these places more than those places sell Chinese's knick knacks *mostly tourist, I can tell*

When Bugis Street is a street shopping, the Bugis Junction is a home for a more classy merchandises and classified shops. It is also adjascent to a hotel. Decorated like a chinese street with shops in its sides and carts in the middle.

Cute things to see. But, after browsed the Bugis street with same kind of merchandise and with more options, these carts is not so attractive anymore. :P

Kind of historical street for the sailors from Bugis years ago, they decorate the place with things from a ship. I like the decoration and the atmosphere.

In the Singapore website they claim this as one of the biggest street shopping. I believe that. Three storey building with various merchandises and all along the street around crowd with business. If you need to buy souvenirs as keyrings, t-shirts, magnetic thing, you surely can find many here, with inexpensive prices.

The opening to the Bugis Junction accross. They currently offer a promotion by simply spend $20. This street is busy, with clothing sections, watches, shoes, bags, sunglasses and snacks!

Clothing. Inexpensive. Anything. From t-shirts to casual wears. I wonder how they managed the ventilation. In a hot day of 32 degree, I don't really feel hot inside.

Bags. Just for $10 each. T-shirt $10 each. Souvenirs $10 for 3. Earings $10 for 7. But everything is on fixed price. Whenever a try to haggle they will say: fixed price! Allright.

Egg Tart in KFC? Yes. I found that KFC Singapore sells Portuguese Egg Tart. Really a Portuguese-style one, with pastry, not pie! I was so excited yet afraid to taste it on the beginning. Well, first bite tell me that this is not as good as Margaret's or Lord Stow's but this is enough to fill the craving.

So, don't blame me if I visit KFC three times a day, just for this egg tart.

I have only little experience on airport. But, I want to thumbs-upChangi Airport in Singapore.

There are no other airport like Changi, for me. At the airport a thick carpet lined almost every pathway. This way, passenger that pay a thousand dollars flight or only five hundred get the same service. They allowed to access to all the branded shops, the duty free, using free internet facilities scattered in almost every corner of the airport, sits *not standing kind in Soekarno Hatta* flat screen television showing the latest Hollywood movies, to charge mobile phone or laptop, all Free! If you want to add a massage session, swimming or sleeping for several hours, you may enter into an exclusive lounge with a certain rate. I myself like the free recliner that staring the runway and the sky, watching planes take off and landing. If I get bored somehow, I can walk to a variety of strange garden that is added each year, cactus on the roof, fish ponds, lotus garden, and some other types of gardens.

Meals include an easily accessible and then the price is not doubled tripled. Outside the airport, a package of Kaya toast with two eggs and hot chocolated usually charge for $ 4. Same as in the airport! Water bottle at 7-Eleven is worth $ 5, particularly same as at the airport.

I compare it with the Macau airport that I left last night. Water bottled that sell in 7-Eleven costing 7 patacas, at the airport sells for 20 patacas. Foods that usually can be consumed only by 20 Patacas, in in the airport, inside the shabby cafe sells for 50 Patacas. Wifi facilities actually provided by the government through GovWifi. But it is sooo slow. At the airport, CTM kindly providing wifi access that goes faster, but only free for 30 minutes. Afterwards, please buy vouchers in the nearest shop. Inside the terminal, there is one place contains 3 computers for free internet. Apparently, 2 computers area not function.

Soekarno Hatta Airport so helpless when comes to such comparisons. Never expect a free wifi unless you buy a coffee in Starbucks or access through the exclusive credit-card holder lounge. mind the free internet, wifi aja still occupied a particular provider who requested
password. Prices of tasteless food are surely much more than just expensive. Cleanliness? Ha, try to visit the toilet.

Speaking of free wifi, I was very disturbed by the system ala starbucks that gives the password only to subscribers. Hong Kong and Macau provides an unsecured GovWifi but the signal is strong enough. Yet it is enough, not surprisingly, the people of Hong Kong and Macau are not internet maniac like most people in Jakarta who always open the laptop in a hotspot to download a program via the free wifi. A Singaporean Auntie I met in the airport said that internet in the Venetian Macau *this is a hotel with 200USD fare per night* is slow while browsing through her Samsung Galaxy Tab to access the facebook. She said, the internet in VM is the same with the GovWifi in Singapore. Hayya, auntie, I suggest you to bring your galaxy tab to Jakarta then you can tell what 'slow' means. Auntie starred blank at me at the word 'Jakarta'. :)

By the way, unfortunately there are severe restrictions on photographing the Casino, I really want capturing the faces who regard gambling as a recreation. Not a face
expectantly waiting for the ball rolling in the numbers they choose, because their glorious future hanging on the rope that rolled, but an entertained expression that might the same with the look on my face when trying the jetcoaster in Dufan. :)

Back to Changi. At this airport, I was free barging the Armani or Prada boutique to just look around. After all, everyone does. I feel much more confident there than to enter the same branded boutique in Plaza Senayan, for instance. In Plaza Senayan, the store clerk is also function as HR appraiser who valueing the customer and give a certain service to the result of the appraisal. :P

O yeah, one day in Hong Kong to adjust and the next day I had the same smooth steps running down the 45 degrees escalator. One day in Singapore to adjust and the next day, I already run through the train station. Surprisingly, 365 days in Jakarta, I never used to follow
the traffic-jam.

PS: My Tripod that broken in two places was finally retired by accident. I put it on a bench in front of the Macau Cathedral and took pictures wit Elvi's camera. As we all pack up and go down to Ribeiro, I noticed that I don't carry it anymore. Bye bye.

Souvenirs from Travelling

Part of travelling that I like is shopping! Some people going just for the experience, some others going for seeing new things. Some people going for shopping and some other going just for fun. As for me? I am in the middle of those four things. :) When I went to Bali, I bought the woven clothes they used to wear when they visit the temples. The seller offers me something looks more expensive and surely a tourist-consumed. I shake my heads and go towards the usual things ~for them, that I like and very unique for me. I then wore it with Kebaya. People unusually stares on it and think: why this looks so familiar yet pretty? Ehem. When I went to Lombok and Flores, I surely bought those woven things. I use them as a table-cloth that decorate my home nicely. When I went to Thailand, I surely bought those silks. I wore them and use some as scarves. Some friends so envy and ask to buy from me. I mostly will find the best souvenir that I could wear or use as decoration. But sometimes, I buy souvenirs but unable to function it. :P I bought these chopsticks in Hong Kong. Jakarta had a good chopstick seller but yet I tempted to buy these. Not from a very good quality nor a unique form for collection. At the end I just don't use it, just put it in my shelves. I just like it that way, lined together.

These keyrings I bought in Chiang Mai. It is very easy to buy keyrings and give your friends souvenirs. But this one, I don't want to give away as souvenirs. I keep it to myself thought I don't need those many keyrings. I just keep it in my shelves, may as a decoration?

Soto Kudus Senayan Kelapa Gading

I know, the name is confusing. Kudus is a town in Central Java, Senayan and Kelapa Gading are two different place *not even close to each other* in Jakarta. So, why there is a Soto Kudus in Senayan that open its outlet in Kelapa Gading. Ouch.

I think their Soto *soup* that come clear with shredded chicken is quite expensive. 25 thousand rupiahs for a set of that with rice. What disturbing me is that the portion is small. Unlikely enough to make a hungry stomach full. *that's why you will need another condiments :P*

The restaurant located in Metropolitan Mall Bekasi, 2nd floor. They mostly sell as bakery, the Taro's cake and bread, but also provide some food which is a mixed taste of Indonesian and Japanese.

Soft cakes. Chocolate, green tea and vanilla *cute.

Ice Taro. Served with shredded ice and those greens.

Javanese fried rice. Tasty. But the portion is too small.

Spicy ramen. As expected, hot and spicy!

Again, second round of Pancious in Pondok Indah Mall II, Jakarta. This is mushroom and duck cream pasta. Yumm. Another cream pasta with mushroom.

Fruit juice. A beaker glass with fruit juice and fruit slices.

Favorite! Waffle with Bailey's caramel, vanilla ice cream, chocolate and almond.

This is the same version but with pancake. All good and delicious. Mmh.

The cookies - egg rolls and egg biscuit, I bought in Koi Kei Pastellaria. This bakery is one of the most easy to find anywhere in Macau. They also sell almond cookies *the most offered to passing customers*, candies, jerky meats and many other kind of cookies.

Japanese Restaurant in Barra

We don't know what the name of this restaurant. Impossible to read the name both in Chinese or Japanese letters. It is in the same road with the A Ma temple. The A Ma temple was bustling with people while we are hungry because it is late afternoon already. By around 3pm, we learned, that not many restaurant accept customers. Why can't we eat all day?

Rice, salmon, kinds of other seafood in a bento-set, udon, salad and chicken wings in another set.

We order the food just using our feeling upon seeing the picture of the food. There are no english explanation and the waiter doesn't speak english better than yes and no. Fortunately *or maybe because we were extra-hungry* the food are superb!

To me, I came back to Macau just because this particular food, Egg Tart!

Portuguese egg tarts is different with those sell in Hong Kong or Singapore. While others use pie as skin and custard to fill, Portuguese version use pastry as skin, custard and jam as filling. I think I did try most that sell in Macau. From those made by Pastellaria Koi Kei, one of the most famous bakery in the country. Those made by Lord's Stow, exclusive bakery that only sells in shopping malls casino. I also try what people call the best - Margaret De Nata *true, that one is incredibly good. And many not-branded one. All of these egg tarts only categorize to two: delicious and oh-so-delicious! :D

The combination of butter and eggs are tasty and sweet, the sour jam made a good combination with a salty pastry. Before, an outlet called Lisboa sells this food in Jakarta, but I found that slowly they receded from the business and leave a maniac like me continuosly desiring. Upon my arrival in Macau, all kind of meal, dinner, breakfast, lunch and snacking would consists of a variety of Portuguese Egg Tarts. I met with three people who were stranded in Augusters. They were from Indonesia, Aha.

Once Prissy told them that I am a regulare to Macau, they started to question me of various destinations. Previously they thought I was the Chinese from Hong Kong or Singapore. Haah! Although my looks deceiving, my heart is honest!

I actually planed to explore the Taipa Village and the Lady Carmel Chapel, but after talking with them, the goal changed. They follow me roamed several churches near the Leal Senado and going up to the Penha Hill to visited the Lady Penha Chapel. I really love the Lady Penha Chapel. Penha Hill which is a place not easily forgotten. The view from the hilltop to the right seeing the Macau Tower, the bridge connecting Macau and Taipa along with all the twinkling casinos, while views to the other side provide Macau's people areas.

Macau is clearly more relaxed from Hong Kong. Nine o'clock in the morning, while I and the four new friends sat in Margaret de Nata café for breakfast, the local people are packed the place too. When we choose half-baguette whole grains sandwich and egg tarts, they plenty themself just with the egg tarts. At 9am only few stores in open in Senado Square. Most the open stores are the bakery. Their staff are on the road with cookies and slices of meat for tester. My new friends are still shy to reached out to taste those cookies and meats. I encourage them, and in no time they filled themself with different taste of almond cookies. Carrying some cookies for souvenir home, we explored the Cathedral, St. Anthony and Penha Hill.

Ian, the only man, and the only one who brought DLSR camera, keep stuck in the middle of the road, taking pictures. Elvi, keep herself busy taking pictures - of herself. Duma, busy with her blackberry messages completing the remaining work from Jakarta. I, feel more relaxed, less picture taking and more to enjoy the atmosphere. I took times to check on some shops that sell antiques, souvenirs, snacks and try some kind of beverage.

Although I'm sure I was much older than them but it looks that I have better stamina. I was strong enough to run just around here and there, up and down stairs and hills, even ran ahead to check the situation. All three of my friends left behind, somewhat complaining of how tiring it is, although they entrust me for the day itinerary. Macau still remains the same as two years ago. Almost nothing has changed. Contrary to the Taipa with its extraordinary rapid development.

Two years ago, the most hip is the Venetian Macau, now I see new casino called the City of Dreams. I learned that their concept is more family recreational, rather than simply gambling area. Malls in the Venetian Macau is equipped with a row of exclusive branded stores, hotels and shuttle service. The shuttle service is really save me from headache touring by bus. Shuttle service available from various important points in Macau such as from the ferry terminal, from famous Hotel and Casinos and surely from the airport. Luxury buses with thick carpet, large windows and nice smell are really for free. It is not easy to ignore the luxury of Venetian Macau. The ceiling of the malls and casino decorated like a real sky and filled with baroque paintings. I drag my suitcase through the rows of blackjack tables, poker and various other gambling games that are not covered at all, staring at each table filled by people who lined up to come into play. I feel a strange sensation. The fortune by luck!

Jetstar would fly me back to Singapore after midnight. Goodbye Macau. While waiting to it I started to craving feeling for egg tart again. Ouch.

They tourist guidebook said that this place was a central market years ago when British collonial still in Hong Kong. The market been re-built and renovated and now preserve as a heritage building. Only several shops inside. The second floors filled with fabrics sellers and the first floor with souvenir kiosks.

Panda to Egg Tarts

I started the day with the Ocean Empire, again. Today I order fried noodles with the chinese crips. The crips is as good as yesterday, even better. But the fried noodles is somewhat so-so. I was interested in the fried noodles when seeing other customers orders it. But maybe my combination is not right, because they usually took it with the congee.

My goal today is not far. Abeerdeen Bay. Jakarta has the SeaWorld and Gelanggang Samudera for walrus and dolphin show. Singapore has Underwater World. Hong Kong has the Ocean Park. Of the three types of the same, I thumbed the SeaWorld in Jakarta. Their fish collection and management of marine animals was significantly more sophisticated. I also think Ancol’s dolphins are smarter than their friend at Sentosa Island ~ehem, that if the IQ of dolphins could be standard~ Ocean Park in Hong Kong is more like a SeaWorld half and half with the Dufan fantasy park.

Oh, I do interested in one feature in the Park. Panda conservation. They have two pandas that oh so cute but put inside a glass cage. They also have Walrus and Dolphins conservation and show, other than carousel, rollercoaster and other typical entertainment park machine. Some people say that Ocean Park is better than their Disneyland. Really? Then, they have to visit Dufan Park in Jakarta where there are giant boat passengers to screaming, chairs that spinning like a windmill, spinning cups nearly colliding one another, jetcoaster that although only inverse once but enough to gave headache, boats dive, boats that rocked and that drenched with water and many more. Ocean Park only have half of that and some still in stages of development.

The other thing that I like from here is the cable car. The cable car bring visitors from the lower plains in Abeerdeen to higher ground at the top of the hill. I had acrophobia, but cable car ride is a must! The view from the inside of the cable car is towards the port Abeerden and its surrounding islands. The view reminds me to the photos in the calendar which includes boat- beautiful boat is white that neatly parked lined the harbor. In the distance gull’s voiced their presence without hesitation. Fifteen minutes in the cable car just makes my heart glad.

I only tried two kinds of games, the boat fell into the water slide that they called Crazy River, and a tower that rotates and rises. Panda’s, sea lions and jellyfish collection together with beautiful view from the hills are more interesting to me.

I took the first bus at half past two in the afternoon to return to the Admiralty then to North Point. From North Point I immediately go to Sheung Wan to take the Ferry to Macau.

While wondering in Shun Tak Centre waiting for boarding to the Ferry, I see a sign directing to the Western Market. Ha, this is one place I interested to visit but seems I had not time. I followed the signs and in no time I arrived at an old building. A British colonial heritage. Shaped rectangular, the building was booked into cultural preservation. Formerly, this is the centre of market activity. Wooden doors, arched gates, stone floor in England type retained. There are several stalls selling souvenirs on the 1st floor,and all the stalls on the 2nd floor sells clothes material cloth.
At the 1st floor there is a dessert shop called Honeymoon Dessert. I know there is a same name outlet in Kelapa Gading, but I'm sure this one will taste different.

I just realized I have not had lunch. Owh, thrifty me! The food in Ocean Park sells doubled prices all. A bottle of water is the only HKD 7 in 7-Eleven. In Ocean Park it sells for 16HKD. Then, I decided to try the Honeymoon Dessert that only sell desserts :P. I chose the tofu pudding drenched with mango sauce and spiced fruit. Quite large pieces of mango, peach, papaya, melon, watermelon and coconut served. Great.

I observe for many times during these two days that I met many of senior citizens. If you take their MTR, their concessionary tickets will be cheaper. The ordinary senior citizen usually drag a wheeled bag into the MTR, or sitting in a restaurant dine alone or both of the three. Same in the Honeymoon Dessert, most visitor are they. This, I think is very different in Jakarta, where the restaurant and diner dominated by people who are younger who come together with a bunch of friends or with a small family.

At 5 pm I enter the Ferry CotaiJet. This turn out better because the CotaiJet is less crowd that the TurboJet. CotaiJet heading towards Taipa. Less hassle. I’ve been in the TurboJet that crowd and give good headache on boarding and disembarking. At the end gate of the Ferry Terminal in Taipa I saw a shuttle to Hotel Lisboa. Ah, great!

At 7 pm I was standing in front of the Ruin of St. Paul, looking at the gates of the former church in the distance and enjoy two pieces of Portuguese Egg Tarts that I missed.

Cable car ride from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping is one of the most popular tourist attraction in Hong Kong. The view from the cable car down to the sea, islands and the airport is somewhat a nice experience. They now add a Cable Car museum as another attraction to this place. Cable cars from different places of the world put here with sign explained where these car operated. Some exhibit are from Spain, China, and Italy.

Chi Lin Monastery is in the same location with Nan Lian Garden. At the outer parts of the temple, different sample of rocks displayed and named from where it came from, together with a wise words. Inside the inner parts, there are big hall and three small halls tributed to the kings.

From Garden to the Shore

Hong Kong's temperature does not rise but even drop to 15 degrees Celsius. The wind is strong. No one was daring enough to take off their jacket. Most go out with scarf that covers not only the neck but also the face. According to the weather forecast, tomorrow the temperature will rise to 19 degrees Celsius. We'll see.

Usually, I ride the MTR from the station named Fortress Hill. Since my inn was in the middle between two paralel MTR stations, I could actually take the train from either. This particular day, I choose to start my journey from another station named North Point.

I headed to North Point station and found that there are more food vendors in this side. I count there are more than three bakery that open that morning. McD and KFC already operated. I then get interested to an outlet that sell kind of twisted doughnut. I get in and realize that it sells congee. Fortunately they have the menu in English that come with picture. I just point to the menu to order :) I ordered congee and fried chinese crisp. On the menu was written the name of outlet: Ocean Empire. Cool!

A bowl of chicken porridge presented quickly. Still hot. Smoke rises from the medium size bowl. The chinese crisp was presented in a basket. The congee is tasty and watery. The onion leaves were big dipped to the congee together with the shredded chicken and red beans. The crips are dense. Great breakfast!

The wind was cold on the face every time out onto the open road. The first route today is to a park called the Nan Lian Garden.

The garden is easy to find. It is formed with the original taste of China. Rocks brought in from across China, mostly from Yunnan, decorating the landscape together with the small trees. A circular pavilion with two-arch bridge be a landmark of this manicured gardens. Visitors will be guided to follow certain routes around the park while accompanied by Chinese music that came out softly from the speakers.

A park ranger came talked to me. He touched my camera and then say: OK. Touched the tripod and shake his hand to the left and right. I then read in the brochure that tripods are prohibited in the park. Besides the tripod, wearing a graduation or wedding dress are also
prohibited in the park.

Nan Lian Garden is in the same location with the Chi Lin Monastery. I walked up to the temple at the top of the hill. When I arrived, I saw people sitting and bowing to the top of the stairs. There, in a room containing three golden Buddha statues, a monk robed in gold is leading the event. In his right side there are brown-robed monks who chanted prayers that sounded like singing. In the altar there are available a variety of fruits. Apples, oranges jumbo, kiwi, peaches and pear that sized almost as big as melons.

After Nan Lian, I headed towards Tung Chung. To my favorite place, Lantau island. The first time I visited I ride the cable car. Today I tried to ride bus. Bus ride in Hong Kong is a difficult challenge for me. First, I do not know where to get off. Although I know the name of the place, my pronunciation is somewhat different and local people doesn't easily understand. Second, the driver buses do not understand English, so it is impossible to expect them to tell me where to aligned.

From the bus, Lantau's a beautiful bay views seemed closer. Waves that breaks down on a rock, green trees, spoil the eyes with a beautiful view. Along with bus that speed up or down through steep turns in the street. Sometimes bus run on the side of a cliff sometimes bus speeding down the coastline. The peak of Ngong Ping feels more cold from Hong Kong. The Giant Buddha seems always shaded by gray skies.

I immediately headed to the Po Lin Monastery. Since it was lunch time already. I bought a meal ticket and directly led to the table for one person. All food in this Monastery is a vegetarian diet. I chose to set menu includes three meals, I get Poksay Ca with Mushrooms, and Spring Roll contains cabbage, and Pickled Cucumber and paprika. Appetizers served in
the form of soup in a large container. I was surprise knowing that my soup bowl is as big as those table with 6 people's bowl. As surprised when they put a pan of rice same size with those table-of-6 again. Ha?

I like the vegetable Spring Roll. Crunchy and tasty. The pickle is usual like they put only little amount of salt. On the way out from the restaurant I saw the snacks stall. I decided to try three different kind of cakes. One with a taste of green tea, one with a taste of red beans and the other with a taste coconut. I think the red beans is the best.

While I eat, I noticed a flower tree near me. The flowers dark pink, and shaped like the flower brooch sold on the mango in half. In the branches, perched 7 animals sparrow-like bird. I wonder, because sparrows usually bolted when people nearby.

I took a walk to the Wisdom Path. From here we can see Lantau peak. Two years ago, the road to Monastery still a gravel mixed soil. Now, all parts are in paved neatly. Two years ago, the road to Wisdom Path like a jungle. Now, same thing. Almost no difference. A restaurant called Tea Garden which messy decoration still no change. Remind me to the Secret Garden of Hyn Bin. (Was the writer was here sometimes and got inspired?)

I was tempted with an outlet at the Ngong Ping who sell waffles and egg ball. Egg balls was like waffles but the shapes are round like quail's eggs. The egg balls are not sweet but also not tasty.

From Lantau I ride back to Tung Chung. I intended to browse around in the factory outlet at Citygate mall. After careful judging, the price is not too cheap. Just like with the price of the Jakarta Great Sale on PI Mall. This mall contains outlets of Nike, Puma, Rockport to Max Mara and Armani. A strand of Esprit sweatshirt sell for 99HKD. The price of same product in a factory outlet in Bandung, Indonesia, will be cheaper.

In the afternoon, I walked in the TST. Tsim Tsa Tsui. This area contains of mostly skyscrapers containing hotels, luxurious apartments, elite malls and modern offices. I took the Star Ferry for a-60 minutes ride around the bay of Kowloon. Dusk began to fall and the building lit its lights. Waves were big enough to shake the ferry. Sound peaceful. Makes me sleepy. Hoahem.

Nan Lian Garden

Every tourism guidebook must put this garden as one of must-visit item. They claimed that this garden is the preserve Chinese-style garden only in Hong Kong. I love garden, and that's why I visit.

This pagoda like building is kind of amazing, with its colorful feature. I don't really know why they close the access to this place *as also other access to another part of the garden*.

These two days I felt like the lucky-goose:). An aircraft delay caused me to stay for free in Singapore. Hotel fare at least 100 SGD a night plus dinner, plus breakfast. Yesterday, I should have been took a ferry from Macau to Hong Kong, paying approximately 150HKD to travel. Due to bad weather, the plane landed in Hong Kong, so I save the ferry fare :P

Today at 7 am I woke up and asked myself, what luck will I get today? I notice that there is a difference between me and other travelers. I used to operate in office hours. At 8 am I get out of the inn. At 8 pm, I returned to the inn, took a shower, connect to the Internet, write and read or chatting and then sleeping. Other travelers, at 7am usually not yet awake. Later at about 2 am in the morning they return to the inn and began to sleep. So, if there is anybody around at 8 pm I usually called it a PP. The preparatory stage for the pub's. I once meta young traveller that missed her bus which was supposedly brought her from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh in Cambodia. She was oversleep after a pub's crawl. She felt bit panic because her itinerary was in such order that she has to catch a flight at the next day. Ha, be careful then!

Okay, at 8 am, MTR station filled by men and women in office's suits. The woman wearing black stockings and most wearing boots. Hong Kong is still quite cold with temperatures between 17-22 degrees Celsius. I should have known :( because the sun was shining nicely yesterday, I came out just with T-shirt and jeans. In the MTR I dont felt cold yet, since understandably people crammed like sardine pack. But the more MTR leaving out of town it started getting cold. I went to Shenzhen. The sky is cloudy. Entering the Hu Lou station, the train entered the underground. Once out of the train, I was confronted by Hong Kong immigration row. Once out of immigration, I have to walk a bridge connecting the two sides, and after then I across to the Chinese side. I can not directly go for clearance. I must ask for a visa first.

Shenzhen Visa for five days cost 160 Yuan. The process is fast. Less than half an hour, I had entered Shenzhen. I start to confuse because I came from Hong Kong that entirely informative to a part of China that not so clear. Instructions almost entirely written in letters that I do not understand.

I wish to find the subway station, I strayed into the train station connecting Shenzhen and Guangzhou. Lou Hu is a business district that contains malls, train station, subway station, connecting part to Hong Kong and also a bus station. So you can imagine how busy location this one. Fortunately there was no ferry transport modes. If there is, I open all proposed airport at Lou Hu. So one-stop shopping. Shenzhen adventure I started by buying one-way ticket to the Subway. Ticket machine full of people. It seems still a few people who know Shenzhen how to buy tickets in the machine. MRT in Singapore issued a card that hard as ticket. MTR in Hong Kong out of thin card as a ticket. Subway Shenzhen issued a plastic coin that looks similar to that used tokens gambler in Vegas. Unique. Second time in this early I stray. I want to go to Windows of The World. In map that I observed at the MTR station, the aligned station named that way. Once I get into in the train, I blinked a headache. All the station names in Chinese characters. Oh No. I fell blindly, then try to ask the officer Subway. Fortunately there is someone who understand English. A young man brought me back to platforms and with English mixed with body language showing the name of the station where I have to go down.

Exit to the ground, cold wind hit me. I glanced at the shops souvenir hope they sell a jacket or cardigan. I finally just find a store that sells a pashmina. The shopkeeper don't understand English and use only a calculator at every bargain attempts. I still use the tactics of the crazy-lady-pasar-inpres. 30-45% off the price offered and do not flinch anymore at all. Amazingly I always success. So suspicious, lest I need to bid 25%? From the height of Eiffel Tower Made-in China, I see the region filled Shenzhen development and there to here. Apparently the sea was reclaimed for territorial expansion. Shenzhen as far as I looked clean and tidy. Maybe its slum areas protected under the order. Hong Kong itself in my observations pretty horrible when getting to the slums. The flats built like bird's nest with transverse wires there and here in the building. Floor and wall quality standards that are no better. Ah, better talk about something else here.

After stumbling because my foot began to ache, I stopped at KFC. In Singapore I ate Burger King, in Hong Kong so exit the airport I immediately sat down at Burger King. Lazy search for other food after a day of hunger on Jetstar. So this day, of same lazyness, I sat down at KFC. But, surprisingly, today foods is kind of healthy. Rice, three slices of chicken, plus a kind of vegetable mustard green and pipils of sweet corn. I think the vegetable was cabbage. I would like a proposal to KFC Indonesia to think of such vegetable menu. Instead of fishing carrots as small as dust as in soup, vegetables served better as well. I do not finish the chicken because they feel satisfied with the vegetables.

While I sat eating, a young man standing in front of me and talk so-whatever. I do not speak Mandarin, so I do not respond. I suspect he was a beggar. Soon an old man came bring a piece of passport and once again a long talk I do not understand.I shook my head. As I sat in the station Hu Lou, I visited by an older man's more force. He pulled out a bill Yuan I'm holding. I really was counting for the exchange. I discourage him, but he did not want to go. I almost think to whop his head with a tripod that I carry. I then approached a group of young men seemingly hanging out and telling my problems. The old man did not dare approached. The young man just said: No, no, no, do not pay and encouraging me go away as soon as possible. While in that scene, I can see a few older men sitting next to me, but they do not care. Their behavior is exactly like in the MTR. Middle-aged men sit back while the mother holding her child while standing.

Tips from me for a woman who sometimes need help when traveling alone to Hong Kong and beyond: search women aged in their 30s who seem well-established, or men in their 20s. Adult women, although have a constrained language, usually have the instinct for solidarity and are willing to help if requested. Young men who are usually more communicative because it has learned English. Women's 20-something usually only care about her boyfriend, and the men in their 30s think we are had a crush on him. Lou Hu Shopping Center is busy with lot of products. Calculators become an important item among my them as a means of haggling.

I was being followed by women who offer manicure and pedicure. 10 Yuan for manicure and 20 Yuan for the pedicure. Not much different from the price in the salon I used to visit. Incidentally, I really need a pedicure. They then do it very quickly. At most ten minutes they are ready to polish with nail polish. Nails and cuticles and removed. They actually prefer to do a manicure, and decorate it with all the accessories patches. 10 Yuan just to clean up and polishing, then another charge for decoration where they would make profit. Imagine if it will plus foot massage, of course, charge increases again. I shake his head every offered. 20 Yuan fresh pedicure thats all! PS: I have broken my Tripod. Not because I knock the beggar head, but fell when the strong winds came.

Morning at 3:30 am, at the request of morning call they call me at room number 612. I might not need to ask for a morning call because all night I could hardly sleep. It's been a while I don't sleep in hotel by myself, it felt weird of its quietness. TV Shows was not not entertaining. And the fact that less than 5 hours we have to go to the airport again add the restless feeling.

Hours 3:30 it with red and swollen eyes, I turned on the hot water in the bathtub.I am desperate plunge into hot water, to wake up stiff joints that are lazy. I took the bread and pancakes for breakfast. They serve a good buffett at 4am, from fried rice, pita bread, curry, cereal and so and so. At 5 o'clock we were arrived at the airport, tocheck in at the Jetstar counter. An officers advised us to get the regular counter. Auckland troupe members flatly refused. Sigh. Finally, with scowling face the Jetstar officer surrender to check in us without queueing. Changi is still quiet. The shops are mostly closed. I'm sleepy.

When the plane took-off at 7:15 I immediately fell asleep. I woke up when the passenger across from me snoring loudly! Not long after that, through loudspeakers, captain announced that we were on top of Macau. It's just hard for landing due to land because of thick fog. I glanced at the hands of passengers on the other side. 10:30am. The aircraft was spinning. White cloud covered the sky above and below us. It was like being in another world. A moment later, I heard the sound of wings derived and the wheels are opened. The plane floated slowly down. I move to the side of the window. Staring at the sea of cotton. Wing aircraft hit mist and split it into ribbons a rotating cloud. Then suddenly, the plane changed its destination. Had walked calmly towards mainland, is now surging up through the clouds until he reached the altitude.

The plane goes around for kind a long enough time. In my calculation of an hour passed already. Then again I hear the wings are lowered and the aircraft wheels down. The first time was, I was amazed to see a thick mist. As the plane entered the fog, from the plane window I could hardly see anything, either mainland, nor sunlight. No wonder the pilot took the decision to get up the plane again. Second time, I felt a little scared. Could pilot force themself to land through the fog? If there are people who say in the world's most matters is London's Fog, he should be acquainted with this Macau fog.

For the second time, after several minutes of being in the fog, the pilot raises back and cancel the landing. Then back to spinning. I started to feel hungry. Breakfast at dawn and this was already noon. Other passengers also began to get nervous and wonder to the cabin crew of what food is available. Cabin crew also kind enough to share a half glass of water white. :P The pilots decided to finally, land in Hong Kong. Unlike the Macau's weather that full of thick clouds, Hong Kong is very bright. The aircraft landed easily.

Unfortunately, the passenger has not been allowed to disembark. Jetstar company still decide that the plane should have been land or would land in Macau. So, the plane survived at the airport of Hong Kongfor approximately two hours, while waiting for weather update from Macau airport. I and other passengers began to lose patience. We wonder why Jetstar did not even create a flexibility to provide free lunches to the passengers nor good decision upon delay time. I subsequently learned that the Hong Kong and Macau, Jetstar does not have a representative office.

Around 2 pm, the plane airborne again and try to land in Macau. Thick fog had not change. If the two previous landing trial I can still see the shadow of the Macau Tower in the distance, in the third experiment, nothing visible at all whatsoever. At 3 pm, the plane landed back in Hong Kong. This time officially, that the flight canceled. Landing is not directly solve the problem. Almost an hour later after that we able to disembark from the plane. Pilots given reason that the authorities in Hong Kong is difficult to compromise with the sudden number of aircraft needed to land on its territory. Odd.

So I lost a valuable day because of this. Instead of touring the tourist attractions, I thirst and hunger in the freezing plane. Know this kind of experiences are rare, I still appreciate the captains pilot. After all of nature should not be resisted. Although it looks innocuous as fog cloud, alert is should ! And when we are in the middle of its midst , while rarely limited view, there nothing could mentioned by the tongue unless the sentence: Oh my God!

Sunday in Airport

I think I should have taken the airport bus that leaving Bekasi at 2 to be arrived promptly at 3. I took the 1.30 and got in the airport at 2.30 just to find out that I am half-hour too fast!

Once past those straight-faces guarded officers at the door that somehow ~~surely security guards trained to be straight-faces or what?~ I went straight to the counter number 29 as shown on the screen. Counters are 29 full-range line. Dozens of people with a cart containing at least two large suitcases crammed without an orderly queue. I began to suspect upon seen their batik's uniform plus their hanging shingle in the chest that they are the TKI ~~Indonesian migrant workers.

I intercept a clerk and asked: Jetstar? Mention the name of another airlines. The clerk directed me to the next counter. Counter are 28 Maam! Aaa, I think, so fortunate, because I don't have to to jostle with uniformed entourage Officials at counter 28 without taking views answered short: "Will open at 3pm Maam!" What? Still I have to mingle in this center of mass-protesters? I drag my trolley walking around the airport. Find a screen that is playing The Bourne Identity. Unfortunately somehow a man being very confident of his look stand right in front of the screen so I can't enjoy the movie.

Five minutes before 3 o'clock I get back to the counter 28. Gosh. Counter 28 now bustle. Now, these are not people in uniform, but the nameplate on the chest, plus uniformity in their duffel bags marked with green tape, still same type of troupe! A man in front of the counter pointed to cart entourage and calculate the amount of luggage. Seemed endless. Half an hour passed without signs that the calculation was successful. Back and forth, back and forth. Is Sunday not a good day for overseas travelling huh? Or just coincidence against TKI season? I observed that in front of each airlines counters, they are groups of uniformed people. They also sitting on the floor waiting for someone taking care their check-in, they also make a long queue in the immigration counters. Owh.

Well, I cut complaints about queuing and migrant workers here. Behind me there is an old-man queing. He tried to chat with me begins with a conversation about a portable trolley that I carried. He said he is a vicar from a Catholic's order that does write a book in Indonesia. Oh, okay, One of the destiny I do not understand is, during my travels I often chat with the clergy. Weird. Why not a lawyer, or banker or financial advisor something like that? Then, I was just idly ask if he ever read the DaVinci Code. Pastor pleaded never. :P Jetstar was originally set out at 5:15. At 4 pm airport's speakers already filled announcements VF 504 for boarding. At 4:50, already all passengers on board. 5 o'clock precisely the airbus that operated by Valuair already moving on the runway. Great right?

Surprise happened shortly before take-off in Cengkareng. I got a text message. Plane that connect me to Macau were canceled, and rescheduled at 7 am the following day. Oala? Arriving at Changi, I went straight to the counter transit. Transit counter told me to consult the information. Information shake their heads. I was stubbornly asking them to contact officers of Jetstar. I'm not going through the gate immigration risk myself before a clear explanation of my next flight. Luckily there are also others who just arrived from Auckland shared a similar fate. Just after surrounded by us, the information's desk agree to contact Jetstar. We spent half-an-hour waiting for a Jetstar officers arrived. Fortunately, they are ready to accommodate us overnight. Because the airport hotel is in a period of renovation, so we ~ which turned out to be 9 people will stay at the Royal Hotel downtown. I do not mind.

At 7 I arrived in Changi, at 7:30 we were taken by Jetstar's officer. But at 10, there still no van to take us downtown. Brr. We spun in circles, from the arrival hall, to the immigration clearance, to counter Jetstar, then back to the arrival of things, then to the parking lots. Sit back, street-do ~ reminds me of my party workers who blamed ~ this afternoon and sat down again, then road-do again, and sat down again. I flew from Jakarta only an hour so it was still pretty fresh. The group from New Zealand already flied for 10 hours. Designated hotel was really downtown. Hotel Royal at Thomson Road. I wished they already drop us at 8, so we would have sometime to sit or browse Orchard. I somewhat think Jetstar is responsible party. Should they reduce the waiting time, we should feel much better.

Fx is a weird shopping mall. At least to me. I arrived around 7pm on Friday afternoon to see some people, mostly young people at the age of university students hang around some coffee shops. I checked a directory and found that most coffee shops not restaurant. Happen to be the first arrived from all my friends that would have dinner together that night, I choose this one. Pan O. Serve pancakes of course, sandwiches and pasta.

The nachos. Looks good. Taste average. Too chessy I guess.

Mix Grill. Grilled meat, chicken, lamb, beef and some others I don't remember what, served in small portion ~~the picture in the menu showed a big portion~~ with sauce and mayonaisse.

Among all, I think this is the best menu they can serve. Dollar pancakes serve with vanilla ice cream, slices of banana, apple, nuts and raisins.

Most people in Indonesia known another kind of cake as Mochi. A glutinous cake filled with shredded beans ~~or green beans~~ coated with sugar powder. This mochi that sell here in Mochilla is kind of Japanese Mochi. The filling is ice cream.

Ice cream is many different taste. From green tea to Durian. Other than mochi cake they also serve wine ice cream, moon cake and waffles. We decided to try the mochi first and let the others for another chance.

I decided that I like this outlet! I like the taste of mochi with different ice cream filling. Hope the other menu will appear as good as the mochi cake.

Ramen 38. Gandaria City.

Gandaria City is one of the newest mall added in the city. We visit at my birthday. Not necessarily to celebrate but because we interested to shop in the new Lotte Mart that is one of the tenant there.

Of course, shopping ~and birthday~ would not be complete without food.

My son suggestion ~~based on his preference~~ is this outlet just because it served ramen. He ordered a medium oxtail ramen soup. It is appear in kind a big bowl with one big meat on it. Surely something to enjoy! I just taste some of it and can tell, yes, it is as good as it's look. \:D/

Another interesting menu is the chicken teriyaki. Come in a medium bowl, rice and chicken teriyaki showered with the shredded nori. For me the taste is better than average chicken teriyaki served by other restaurant in Jakarta.

Sure will come again.

Why I start with dessert? Because this is the best I found here. :) Macha Ice Cream. Taste of green tea in the ice cream melt together with the cream and thin pancake. Yum.

Forgive me if I can not tell you the name of this cuisine. It taste more like pasta d'aglio. Yaki ramen with fried chicken showered with shredded nori and salad as a side dish. I like it! Nothing more satisfying for a hungry stomach than a good meal, but sure the taste is important.

This one is char-siew ramen. My friend's order. She was bit disappointed found that her dish is less satisfying than mine. With beef, mushroom, eggs still she said it lack of something she can not describe.

On the way to Pangandaran, in a place called Nagrek, we saw a big billboard - Asep Stroberi with an interesting building. The building, that apparently is a musholla, a place for moslem pray, is actually what makes us decided to try. We think of a nice sit viewing the valley.

Well, we really have a nice sit and nice view to the valley where the rice paddy are. Some people are in the field and we can see them working while we eat. Ow ow ow.

I choose this menu because this is the recommendation. Nasi Liwet. Rice. Well, yes, rice cooked inside this particular pan with some spices inside it including the lemongrass.

This portion is a package for two people. Two pieces of fried chicken, soy cake or tempe that fried with flour, fish, tofu, chillies and some lalab ~~raw vegetables~~ I found this simple menu is satisfying. Really! I rarely eat more than small portion of rice, but this time I bravely took one full plate of rice.

The restaurant consist of different places for people to sit. Each separated to other by steps or small grass-field. It guarantee a privacy to enjoy yet a nice air to breath.

This one place where we sit. Trust me, sit there for one or two hours, enjoy the mountain wind and eat delicious food. Umm....

Hotel Nyiur Indah Pangandaran

This is the second time we stay in this hotel. Located closely to the west beach of Pangandaran, we feel this is the easiest choice. With a reasonable rate and quite a large room.

The swimming pool is small but nice. Enough for the children to splash :P

They also serve breakfast buffet. Something rare in Pangandaran, I think. Some other hotels we visited before with same facilities will only deliver either toast or fried rice for breakfast.

Almost every year, due to this particular retreat, we have to go to Pangandaran Beach. I myself now not so excited as the experience is somehow repeated with nothing so new. :P Huuuu, a mood-killer.

Let me tell you what I usually like to do in Pangandaran.

First, swim. Enjoying the waves is one of a must when we visit a beach. The west beach in Pangandaran is recommended for this. The sands and waves is nice. But from year to year my interest get less and less because the beach is somehow so crowd. There are boats in the shore, boats in the water. There are different sellers, from fruit to fish to clothes. In only five minutes, we already got at least five people approaching and offer something boat service or something they sell.

Second, ride a boat. The most popular route is a 30-minutes with a cheap rate. Start from the west beach to another beach across that called white sands beach, inside the nature reserve area. After some while in that beach, the boat will take us to a coral garden. The clear water makes us able to see some of the small colorful fishes among the coral.

Third, visit the Green Canyon. Green canyon is a boat ride through the Cijulang river to a waterfall. The ride will take about 15 minutes in a small canoe. The river that quite wide at the beginning then become more and more narrow then to a gap of tall cliff colored green from the moss. After about ten minutes inside the gap we will see the waterfall. Four, visit the natural reserve. Many years ago, I loved to walk around in the reservation area, and even once did camp inside. In the morning, right after the sunrise, we can walk up to its hills until reach the meadow where the population of wild bull is conserve. Whenever we hear the flocks come, we would have to climb to some towers that build for the purpose. From up the tower we can watch the bulls run. Another side of the conservation will bring us to a cliff that face a breathtaking scenery of the ocean.

Five, walk along the beach-line from the east beach into the conservation area. Quite challenging yet not so difficult to do. The east beach is not recommended for swim. This beach is quite but still we can enjoy it. Watch the fisherman draw their net from the shore is quite an interesting to do.

These fisherman somehow will only got small fishes.

Six, shopping. T-Shirt and souvenirs are quite cheap here. I usually like to buy some to bring home for friends and family. Though the inflation is quite high, their price is usually flat from year to year.

Seven, visit Karang Nini. Karang Nini is another side where we can enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the ocean from up the cliff. Several years ago, we visited this spot and agree that though there is nothing so special about this place still it is quite interesting to visit. But, this recently I think I have to change my opinion. The way to the cliff is dangerously damaged. We should be able to enter the spot in only ten minutes, but due to the bad road, we spend twice of that. Then, the peaceful place that was for people to sit under the tree now filled with different building that doesn't really functioned. There are small stall for food but almost all closed and ignored. There is a fountain that abandoned. There are some toilets but unbelievably dirty.

Seven, hhmmh? What else? I believe there are still many to do. If we moved bit to Batu Karas beach we will able to do some surfing. Food around Pangandaran also somehow good and fresh too. But, why I still feel a hesitance to go there again?

Padma Hotel - Dine

Dining experience in Padma Hotel. The experience start with a dinner. We choose Salad and Pasta. A salmon salad and a spicy aglio-spaghetti. I like the salad because it is fresh served with a good salmon. Pasta itself is a new experience for me since ~~dunno why I wait this long to try it :) A rather good combination for the red wine? Hahah.

Breakfast for me are bread and pancake. Don't ask me how much I ate :P because I like it soooo much. The picture I posted here is my third plate. Oops.

The looks of the displayed cake are really tempting, but I was too full. Save if for next time.

Padma Hotel

As part of work *ehem* is to help organizing an Admin Retreat at this hotel in Bandung. It is been quite a while I didn't spend some good time to enjoy a good hotel. *It is also a while I didn't travel around*

The hotel is very nice. Locate up in one top of the hills. From it's lobby, rooms and restaurant we can see the nice green valley.

This is the roof of a room that occasionally used as a wedding chapel. With it's glass wall, we will get a feeling of being surrounded by the green. Surely will romantic.

The restaurant located in a roof of a building. The are two sections, an open air at its terraces or inside. At the evening, the glass doors slided closed and at the morning it slided open. Such a nice experience to sit and enjoy a meal here.

The rooms that viewing the swimming pool. I woke up around 5:30 in the morning and found that the sun hasn't rise yet. I sat at the window waiting for a light and experience a really nice moment. Bandung is well known for its cool weather, so no doubt there would be a soothing and relaxing air I breathe that morning.

Rice Bowl

One afternoon we dine-out and want to try something new. We try this restaurant called Rice Bowl. Serving Chinese cuisine, we order a package consist of these:

Bean sprout sauted with chili, crispy duck and onion slices. The portion is good for four people but it is only two of us who like it. I like it because the bean-sprout is fresh and it is cook well with less salt.

A small bowl of hainan rice. This is the dissapointing part because it is not well-cooked. I still could taste the grain.

Kung Pao Chicken. I know Chinese cuisine is somehow too salty to my appetite but yet this one is really really salty.

Hong Kong Sauce Chiken. I think this is a better choice than the Kung Pao. I can eat it well and eventually like the garnish :P

Kafe Betawi

Kafe Betawi in Pondok Indah Mall. I stick to this cuisine called Ketoprak. Bean sprout and noodles poured with peanut sauce, fried onion, chips and soy sauce. My favorite.

This is another ice selection called Es Doger. Coconut, Sticky rice, and other sweet ingredients with shredded ice.

Pecel Madiun Rawabuntu

Pecel is a traditional cuisine. Consist of vegetables, bean sprout, cucumber, water spinach, and some other then mixed with peanut sauce. Usually eat as a condiment to rice and combined with fried chicken like in this picture.

Or with chips and quail's egg. If you like it hot, you can add some chili to the peanut sauce. The restaurant in Rawabuntu mostly served this meal for its customer. There are another cuisine as well but not as famous as this one. For me, this taste okay, though it is not so special.

The famous drink is this. Dawet or Cendol for people from other area. It is a combination of some sago, then some sticky rice then pour with coconut milk, brown sugar and shredded ice. Taste sweet surely. Most people like this as a dessert.

San Fransisco in Bandung

In Bandung, there is a famout food outlet called San Fransisco. Don't ask me why its name like that. I certainly say there is nothing similar with the San Fransisco.

The outlet offers some food. From Soup to Satay to Fried Rice to Pancake and more.

One of traditional cuisine in Bandung is this cake called Serabi. Made from flour, usually consumed with brown sugar. This lately the cuisine had modified to a more complicated ~~or modern?~~ form. Like this one, the Serabi poured with coconut milk and add with Durian ~~surely you know Durian right? Those thorn fruits?~~ It enriched the taste of flour that usually plain to something more delicious for sure.

This is the mixed ice selection. Fruit and others put together with shredded ice, coconut milk and syrup. I don't need to say much about this, since I did posted much about this. Slllruup.

Another noodle cuisine. This boiled noodle with beef foot ~~geeh, what is that?~~ and bean sprouts. It taste nice actually, suitable for a night dine in chill Bandung.
